Revisit the Imperial Hotel with LEGO Architecture

Imperial Hotel

Frank Lloyd Wright's legendary Imperial Hotel opened in 1923, marking the emergence of Japan as a modern nation. The building quickly became the most famous landmark in Tokyo and went on to have a history as colorful and dramatic as the country itself. For starters, an earthquake hit Tokyo on the very day that the hotel was due to open. However, thanks to Frank Lloyd Wright's innovative design, the hotel emerged almost unscathed and was one of the few buildings in the city to survive the quake. But imagine how Frank Lloyd Wright felt at the time. Due to the difficulties with international communication he had to wait ten days before he knew whether his building had collapsed or was still standing!
